The 8 Stages of the Pygmy Genocide

Classification: the forest dwellers are set aside from the other inhabitants of the Democratic Republic of Congo

Symbolization: the hunter-gatherers of the DRC are given the name "Pygmies" 

Dehumanization: the pygmies are not considered human by almost all of the Bantu tribes and tribal elites and are treated as animals 

Organization:   The "Effacer Le Tableu" and The Lord's Resistance Army surface 

Polarization: Pygmies are not permitted to become citizens in the Congo River Basin 

Preparation: the Pygmies are being forced out of their forest homes 

Extermination: Pygmies are murdered, raped, enslaved, and eaten

Denial: the government doesn't acknowledge genocide
